Hello hello!
So as you see in the subject box, after ten weeks in the mission, I
will be training this transfer! I'm excited. And I'm glad I get to stay
in the same area! I don't know anything about my new companion yet, but
I will meet her tomorrow. Yay! It's definitely humbling to be called as
a trainer. I hope I can be the companion she needs and help her to
establish patterns and things that will help her for her whole mission.
Weaknesses are never more evident than they are as a missionary.
Before, it was okay to make mistakes and I just worked through things.
But if I ever mess up in a lesson or something I feel awful because
people's salvation is on the line! I've definitely been demanding
perfection of myself. But I'm trying to remember that that's even more
than the Lord asks of us. All He asks is for everything we have. I can't
give Him perfection right now, but I can give Him all my heart, might,
mind, and strength. I am grateful for the experiences I've had in the
mission so far that have humbled me and helped me to grow. I feel that
I've learned a lot and I'm excited for the opportunity to train and help
a new missionary grow as well.
Esmerelda is getting baptized this Saturday! We've been working
with their family for so long. They've been receiving missionaries for
years and just haven't been progressing. But this last transfer their
whole family has come to church 3 weeks in a row, their dad is preparing
to receive the Melchezidek priesthood, and he is going to baptize
Esmerelda this Saturday! It's been a long journey, and I am so excited
to see their family grow. It's not just a baptism, it's their whole
family coming back! I hope this will continue so their younger children
can be raised in the church and learn the principles of the gospel in
their home.
Jenny is doing really well. She told us she is so ready to get
baptized. The only problem, as I've mentioned before, is they need to
get married first and that's not something Ivan wants right now. So
that's really hard because she's being very faithful and can't progress
in the gospel. But everything will happen in it's proper time. We just
have to pray Ivan will change his heart.
We were out for a run one morning this week and got to rescue a
little dog. He was really friendly, had a collar, and seemed a little
scared. We took him to a house close by and the woman was really nice
and let us leave the dog with her for animal control to come get. She
said the owners will be really happy to have their dog again. We ended
up getting to tell her a little about the church, and we're going to
send the elders to her. We'll see what happens!
I got to try an interesting food this week. It's called mole and
it's meat covered in this really interesting sauce that has chocolate in
it. Apparently in Mexico they only make that dish for holidays or when
they have special company over, cause it takes a lot of work. So that
was really sweet of the members to make it for us. It's definitely
unlike anything I've tried before.
About the pictures: 1) Here's a stop sign we saw and thought was
pretty cool :) 2) A member in the ward has some snakes. I was okay with
the one I was holding, but right as my companion took the picture the
member put the other snake right by me, and she took the picture right
as I felt it crawling on me. It was pretty funny haha. 3) This is my
district!
Love you all so much!
